Hello GenTravelers! Or I could say: Tena koutou {hello} WhakapapaTravelers!
If your family is from New Zealand and you’re just starting out, here is a link to a great source: Whakapapa for Beginners.
And for more advanced online research: surprise, surprise!…the best resources are FamilySearch, FindMyPast and Ancestry!
But the BEST idea (in my opinion) is to plan a trip to where your ancestors actually lived! Perhaps plan to go in person to these archives:
Archives of New Zealand (Located in Wellington, with regional offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin).
National Library of New Zealand (as well as local libraries, of course!)
AND, my favorite: Societies! Check out these:
New Zealand Society of Genealogists
The New Zealand Historical Association
Family History Society of New Zealand
Kiwis have such rich cultural traditions and what a fantastic place to go GenTraveling!!

So, are you planning your GenTraveling yet? Where do you plan to go? Be sure to share your GenTraveling Bucket list on our Bucket List Page. GenTraveling: It’s the Real Deal Thrill!
Oh, how I wish I could travel anywhere! Even a road trip would be exciting right now.

New Zealand would be awesome, even though I have no family connection (that I’m aware of – always an important caveat).
